Reviews:
Yonkers yet again expands it vision for the visual arts in our community. Al Landzberg's sculpture, "Ascending Arcs," portrays an ever-changing artistic landscape in the downtown area of Yonkers. "Ascending Arcs" embodies more than just an art form but a representation of how we move forward in building a creative and evolving community.
Always fascinated by a balance-tension situation, Parmet conceived of the rectangular section of C-SQUARED. He wanted the juxtaposition of a heavy structure protruding from the earth on an angle that would look as though it could fall in either direction with the mere effort of a slight breeze. Jerome Harris Parmet said, “Working with steel gives me enormous satisfaction. Metal appears to be a cold, inert material but I enjoy forcing it to my will, making it malleable, and pushing it to express my sense of design and to meet my wishes. I focus on the results and work my way to an artistic conclusion.”
